The willow leaves on slender branches in dark shades of blue create a sense of safety and protection, as if being in a secret hiding place between the hanging branches of a weeping willow. The pleasing background structure is provided by dots in different sizes. This design from 1874 is one of the many variations of the willow motif that inspired British artist and designer William Morris time and time again.
